Per Seldén starts up with boat equipment and wooden masts at Långedrag, Gothenburg.

 

1965

Aluminium mast production, 5 employees.

 

1973

New plant for rigging systems in Gothenburg. Separate companies for boat equipment store and mast manufacturing.

 

1976

Another new plant for rigging systems and equipment. 50% of Kemp Masts acquired. Turnover SEK 14 million. About 40 employees.

 

 

Heeling test, introduced 1965. Good methods lasts

 

FURLEX AND
BEYOND

 

 

1980

One of the plants sold. Turnover SEK 24.5 million.

 

1981

Diversification begins. Four properties bought.
Part owner in industrial project.


1983

Furlex launched.

 

1985

Seldén in-mast furling launched. Turnover SEK 38 million.
50 employees.

 

1988

Peter Rönnbäck succeeds Per Seldén as Managing Director.
YRAB (Seldén Rigging AB) acquired.

 

1989

Hydraulic outhaul launched.
Per Seldén’s remaining shares acquired by Furlex AB.

Kemp Masts Ltd becomes Seldén Mast Ltd.
New Furlex launched.
Seldén acquires the assets of Proctor Masts and becomes the dominant player on dinghy, one-design and keelboat product markets.

 

1998

Seldén Mast Ltd sells Titchfield plant and moves to Proctor’s plant. 
Seldén Mast Inc, USA, starts mast manufacturing operations in America.

 

1999

Münter Marine A/S in Denmark becomes Seldén Mast A/S.

The overall winner of Tjörn Runt features one of the first carbon spars from Seldén.
